Samuel James Tisdale - Private |
Enlisted April 17, 1862 at Sumter, South Carolina. He served on a gunboat from Nov. 1862 to Nov. 1863. He was assigned to Engineers by special order No. 55, March 6, 1864. Participated in the battles of James Island, Secessionville, Fort Johnson, Morris Island, Fort Wagner, Fort Gregg, and Fort Sumter, (all in South Carolina). Paroled when his unit was disbanded in April 1865.

Jacob Middleton Wheeler - Lieutenant |
Jacob Middleton Wheeler, a son of John Jacob Wheeler and Sarah 'Sallie' Bowers Wheeler; enlisted as a Private in Company F, 3rd Battalion, South Carolina Light Artillery (Palmetto Battalion) and rose to rank of Lieutenant. He was wounded at Sharpsburg and sent home. After he recovered, Lieut. Wheeler answered the call and joined the cavalry until the end of the war. Lieut. Wheeler was married twice and lived his entire life in Prosperity, Newberry County, South Carolina; where he is buried at Prosperity Cemetery.
